Abstract

— Information sharing and relaying has become one of the vital services of our lives. People would have to constantly be in touch with their families, business partners and friends. This research explores the extent to which people in Ghana and the Philippines have managed to use SMS effectively in their daily communication. The case study, interview as well as the observation approaches were used to gather data. It was found SMS is an integral part of the lives of the people of the Philippines whereas in Ghana, people hardly used it. This research work therefore provides a means by which individuals as well as businesses in both countries could learn from each other regarding the effective use of SMS in order to enhance and reduce the cost of communication.
